In July, 5th 2021, the Holy Father conferred the title of archbishop ad personam to Bishop Franklyn Atese Nubuasah, S.V.D., of the diocese of Gaborone, Botswana. The Pope took the unusual step of conferring the title of archbishop on Bishop Nabuasah ad personam, meaning it was extended to him personally, and not attached to the Diocese of Gaborone. The appointment is a a singular honor, made in recognition of Bishop Frank’s long and influential career as a missionary in the country, having arrived in Botswana in the early 80s.
